Volunteer and staff training

Ivy is often called upon to help identify, recruit, train and coordinate volunteers to move an organization along a specific course. There may be a troubled past to resolve or a new opportunity to realize. Regardless, volunteers are a non-profit’s lifeblood. Tapping their potential and moving them in the right direction is what we do best.

Staff are often taxed with unfamiliar responsibilities or need direction in optimizing efficiency. As coach, we’re there to build them up, identify and provide the right tools to get the job done, and to hold them accountable for ultimate success.

Short courses or long term consulting is available. A sample of programs and activities  include:

  • Fundraising 101 – Learning the basics for successful results
  • Non-Cash Giving – Generous benefits for both donor and charity
  • Volunteer Development – How to empower friends and maximize contributions
  • The Effective Executive
  • Effective Boards and Committees
  • Take the Temperature of Your Non Profit – What’s working and what’s not.  Taking charge of change.
  • Team Building – Helping staff and volunteers to work efficiently and effectively

Coordination of Capital Campaigns

Our niche are capital campaigns in the $500,000 to $5 million range where we can provide personal assistance with volunteer recruitment, training and oversight; gift tracking and data management; development of marketing communications; assistance with gift solicitation among other tasks.  We advocate a 3-phase approach.

Precampaign Phase: The capital project is defined, key supporters identified, and a target audience surveyed to determine if strategy is on target to support major fundraising.

Quiet or Leadership Gift Phase: Key leadership is charged with “getting or giving” the priority gifts necessary to move the project within reach of the campaign goal. Only major gifts are solicited. This is called the “quiet” phase, because the campaign is not publicly announced until this phase is completed and 65% of the goal is pledged.

General Campaign: Once a healthy percentage of the campaign goal is achieved, there is an all out, community-wide initiative to reach all donor prospects regardless of gift size. More volunteers are identified and trained for specific tasks to make gift solicitations as personal as possible.  The climax of the general campaign is the campaign celebration where volunteers and donors are publicly thanked for their many contributions to the project.

Marketing & Membership Programs

Successfully building and communicating your brand is essential for non-profits to stand out in the communities they serve. Your public face ultimately determines the strength and flow of charitable dollars to support and grow programming, as well as influence the number and caliber of volunteers to assist with vital organizational functions. Ivy has public relations and advertising experience, is adept at conducting market research, and is helping several clients implement annual membership programs. Keeping the organization close and vital to its most important audiences is critical to organizational sustainability.

Event Management

Ivy has experience orchestrating events for small groups as well as large crowds. Based on organizational objectives, we can assist with prospect targeting, invitations, press materials, social media, developing program content, sourcing speakers and entertainment, and evaluation.
